Wardrobe Pieces Play Double Duty

By: Amanda Cogswell | August 24, 2011 | Fashion

Conceptual retailer Opening Ceremony, the purveyor of downtown cool, and MM6 Maison Martin Margiela, Maison’s more casual diffusion line, have introduced a new collection of multi-wear clothing.  Consisting of 20 pieces based on a 3-in-1 concept, most of these cleverly chic items transform into wearable separates.  Unfasten the lining of a leather jacket and you have a separate water-resistant nylon one; with an effortless tug, boots can be worn as knee-highs or ankle-length.

The line follows the offbeat edge we’ve come to know and love from the Belgium design house.  These playful pieces befit the type of girls who hop from a trendy dinner spot to a new gallery opening, then past the velvet ropes of the “it” club in the same evening.

The line is available at Maison Martin Margiela Beverly Hills, Barneys, and Opening Ceremony, ranging from $174 to $1,420.
