Thom Yorke DJs LA

By: Brent Tuttle | March 10, 2011 | Music

International (front)man of mystery Thom Yorke made a cameo in Los Angeles last night. The Radiohead lead singer dropped a surprise hour and twenty minute DJ set at Airliner’s Low End Theory night. Prior to the show, rumors had been rumbling around LA’s digital realm, but no one could confirm that the British superstar was actually booked. By dusk, the Lincoln Heights venue had a tsunami size wave of people outside, all floating eagerly off of the internet rumors at bay. But by 10 PM all bets were off. The entire schabang had transformed into another online conspiracy, nothing more than a wild myth washed down the drain of LA’s musical realm. Low End Theory resident Nocan even made an on stage announcement telling attendees the rogue musician would not be making an appearance. And just as it seemed all hope of seeing Mr. Yorke had disappeared completely, Thom took the stage, hypnotizing an ocean of onlookers with his presence and raw musical talent. His set list included tracks from Burial, Kraftwerk, Modeselektor, and Major Lazer. No one is sure why Mr. Yorke decided to solidify the “In Limbo” hype at play, but watching this jigsaw fall into place was rewarding for all those who remained faithful.
