Around the world, roughly 20 music producers have worked in the studio with hip hop hard knock Jay-Z. By no coincidence, 9th Wonder is one of them.

Born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 9th Wonder (Patrick Douthit) is a Grammy Award winning hip-hop producer, Duke University professor, and DJ. At the mild age of 36, 9th Wonder’s musical accomplishments have built up a beat making empire. His impressive list of clients include; David Banner, Drake, Mary J. Blige, Lil Wayne, MURS, Ludacris, and Destiny’s Child just to name a few.

And now 9th Wonder is also the subject of an upcoming documentary titled, The Wonder Year. Directed by Kenneth Price, the film was put together after Price shadowed 9th Wonder for a year, gathering raw footage to give viewers an insight into the legacy of this talented maestro. The film features cameos from Drake, DJ Premier, Method Man, the Alchemist, and many more. No word yet on a release date, but Kenneth Price says the film will be on this summer’s festival circuit.
