Fans of Polaroid’s analog instant film with a vintage appeal rejoice, as the revival campaign and business venture, “The Impossible Project”, is finally in full operation. Now on sale is the PX Silver Shade – a new sepia-tone film material made with Polaroid technology. Following Polaroid’s digital move, and their decision to discontinue their film production in 2009, fans of the old film had pleaded for it’s return, stockpiling, and selling it for more than twice the original price. Not ready to let go of their analog aesthetic, a group called “The Impossible Project” was soon formed with the mission of maintaining the artsy cult favorite. An ex-Polaroid factory in the Netherlands was purchased, engineers from the company were hired, and before long, a new spin on the old technology was created – spawning the PX Silver Shade film, among other types. The new film stock recently been made available for purchase online, as have many trendy new takes on the old classic instant Polaroid cameras.
