WHO: Tatjana Patitz, Supermodel

ORGANIZATION: Dolphin Aid

“...Because I have personally experienced the mystical relationship between humans and wildlife.”

ABOUT: Dolphin Therapy is a rehabilitation method that enables special-needs children to achieve success. The dolphins, upon encountering the children, miraculously and instinctively sense the child’s deficiency. In this way, the children lose their shyness around the beautiful animals and with their help re-establish contact with their surroundings. These positive impulses lead to substantial progress in the children’s development.

These 3 people you have selected are the best of the best when it comes to speaking up for the health and well-being of the marine environment. Yes-there are pockets of resistance re the practice of whaling and culling of mammals but humanity has come such a long way in realizing the atrocity of it all. Hopefully-in our lifetimes, this abomination will be globally outlawed. Brandon Boyd is a great spokesperson for Surfrider-he and his band have won Surfrider awards and they put their money where their mouths (mostly) are with their Make Yourself Foundation. Have not yet heard of the 5 Gyres and Anna Cummins but what she says about plastics pollution is right on.

One day very soon-hopefully those plastic bags they pass out like candy at the supermarket will become outlawed and effective outreach such as Surfrider’s “Just Say No to Plastics” campaign will increase awareness of plastic pollution in much the say way the MADD organization made people realize the foibles of drinking & driving! Thank you for these 3 Trail-blazers and their stories.

Mr. Boyd has proven he is dedicated to ocean preservation, however after reading comments from Ms. Cummins past, she seems to have a great deal of personal gain from her actions.

I hope everyone would use common sense and try to do the right thing. Clean up after yourselves..Don’t use items harmful to the environment whether it be land or sea. I personally don’t live near the ocean but if I were to visit there I would want to know it is safe and clean. Just as when I’m looking across the plains I want to see beauty not garbage and pollution. Thank you to the people who keep trying to remind and inform everyone that we could be losing precious things. I watched a movie called The Cove..it’s a real eye opener.

can anyone think of a reason why “the world coming together”  could pose a problem?  not just a benefit?  ...just curious

I back Brandon people are apathetic when it comes to the conditions of our oceans. Protect our oceans and beaches smile Respect and light to Brandon

When we realize that the ocean runs in our veins, the ground is our skin, the fish in the ocean are our vital organs, etc. we will stop hurting ourselves. Killing and not caring about nature, we do the same to ourselves. Let’s start and continuing to heal the damage. We can do this together. Do your part, love yourself. Respect life, before we lose it. I love you all.

No gain comes from destruction… Be part of a solution not the problem. Earth’s ocean covers more than 70% of our planet’s surface, but the Ocean’s pollution has escalated dramatically as those who use the oceans for recreational and commercial purposes, as well as those who live nearby, have disposed of more and more wastes. Very sad…

This is great…Great for them. Although I am skeptic about everything said and their pro-activism. They may be really supportive about one issue, i am sure but they lack on others. We will never be on the same page. Sorry.

thought*

I am very happy that there are people in this world who care enough to try to make a difference. With all of the people trying to do something in their own way its going to help make this world a better place.

My two cents: I am hopeful that with awareness people everywhere will cease to tolerate the plundering and poluting of land and water.  As the world’s population increases more pressure will be put on the earth and oceans’ resources.  I must be optimistic that environmentally conscious changes put into place now will continue to evolve.  Surely it is in everyone’s best interest that air is fit to breathe and water to drink even in places with despotic rulers.
, North Korea comes to mind.  I was watching a documentary on North Korea and apparently the indigenous wild bird species don’t exist in that country because people have killed them off for food. Birds don’t sing there, there aren’t any.

As plant and animal species decline we risk becoming very lonely and desolate at the top of the food chain.  The generations alive today can begin the reversal of so much human damage wreaked upon the earth.  What will we, as individuals, do today to become the change we wish to see in the world? Our personal choices can make a difference.

it never fails to amaze me the number of people who think they “love” the famous, most of their “love” is lust. get to know them as people not as entertainers then decide if you love them or just find them to be attractive people who have the good fortune to have a talent worth getting them attention.
That being said I always commend Mr. Boyds philanthropic and environmental efforts
Thank you for being responsible with your fame
