Ricard Hell [The Trailblazer]

Richard Hell is probably best known as the front man, singer and songwriter for the 1970s early punk rock band Richard Hell & The Voidoids. Its debut album, Blank Generation, and its title song are considered some of the best and most influential on the punk rock scene. Since the late 1980s, Hell has dedicated himself to writing and publishing two novels as wells as creating collections of poems, essays and drawings.

What is the most important lesson you’ve ever learned?
No one is better than anyone.

Who is your favorite contemporary artist and why?
I like Alec Baldwin a lot. I want to have a low voice like that.

What characteristics constitute intelligence?
The ability to make virtues of defects.

How would you describe the current state of American politics?
As usual, wealth rules.

What do you think is the biggest threat to world peace?
Human nature.

What is your definition of success?
Sex and food.

What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Time.
