From the West Coast to the East Coast, independent accessories designer Rebecca Minkoff has left her distinctive print in nearly every woman’s daily accoutrement. When her innovative I Love New York T-shirt appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and in an issue of US Weekly in 2001, her recognition instantly flourished with a high-demand market for her simple yet perfectly topical design for a post-9/11 nation. Segueing into the craft of handbags, Minkoff’s “Morning After Bag” thrust her into the appropriate acclaim of America’s No. 1 independent accessories designer. Minkoff has discussed her fashion politics on such shows as Good Morning America and Extra, and has clients ranging from such celebrities as Keira Knightley and Reese Witherspoon to the modern everyday woman. She was also was honored as a New York Moves Power Women by Moves magazine in 2009.

What do you consider your most marked characteristic?
My ability to laugh at myself.

What historic event do you find most interesting and why?
Oct. 28, 1886 — the day President Cleveland accepted the Statue of Liberty. As a New Yorker, I can’t imagine the city without it.

What natural gift would you most like to possess?
The ability to sing.

Expecting and happy!
