Keds, the purported purveyor of the original sneaker, has launched a line of apparel at Opening Ceremony on black Friday.

Their debut sportswear line reflect the design aesthetic represented by the nearly century old brand:  one that is timeless, a tad preppy, and All-American.  Featuring 85 styles, the collection offers a bit of everything for both men and women including t-shirts, sweaters, pants, skirts, dresses, and jackets priced from $48 to $400.

Items from the limited edition Keds resort collection can be purchased at Opening Ceremony locations in New York and Los Angeles as well as through its web site.  Apparel may be purchased from select specialty stores and high-end department stores in the spring.

In a bid for publicity during Art Basel in Miami, clothing from the inaugural line will be sold in a pop-up shop in the Vogue lounge at the Sagamore Hotel complete with style advisors to aid visitors in creating a tailored look.  Also, on December 6th, Keds will have a reception for 40 bloggers in its showroom to style looks that they can feature on their respective blogs.

Keds has graced the feet of many notables including Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Onassis, Paul Newman and Humphrey Bogart.  And now with the introduction of a clothing line, it will be ensured to be worn and loved by future generations to come.
