
Jeff Lubell is the owner and co-founder of True Religion Denim. He has expanded the company from solely denim to a global powerhouse in premium denim, knits and sportswear. Lubell is currently branching out into footwear, handbags, fragrance and swimwear.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned?
Never take no for an answer.
What book have you read that made a powerful impression on you?
I love to read “how-to” books, any “how-to” books. I can learn pretty much anything from them. Seriously, I learned how to ski from a “how-to” book.
Describe your average Sunday morning.
Sundays are anything but average for me.
What individual was most influential during your formative years and how?
John Travolta. I loved John Travolta. As a kid, he was the guy I wanted to be from Welcome Back Kotter to Saturday Night Fever, Urban Cowboy and Grease. I thought he was the coolest guy.
What is your take on the current economic crisis?
This too shall pass.
What are your thoughts on the overall importance of art in modern society?
The importance of art in society is the lasting blueprint left for the generations to come.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to follow your career path?
Never follow someone else’s footsteps, but follow that inner drive that’s inside of all of us.
How do you decompress after a hard day’s work?
