Burson-Marsteller for Accenture
WHAT: The Accenture Ocean Swim Workshop and Beach Party is a “swim warm-up” for Team CAF Malibu, the Challenged Athletes Foundation team for the upcoming the 2009 Nautica Malibu Triathlon. Sponsored by Accenture, it offers participants the chance to swim, eat and meet the other team members—ranging from challenged athletes to celebrities—before the triathlon.
The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) raises money to help people with physical disabilities pursue an active lifestyle through physical fitness and athletics. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life.
Since 1994, CAF has raised more than $19 million – allowing the Foundation to satisfy almost 3,800 funding requests from challenged athletes in all 50 states and dozens of countries. Accenture has been an active supporter of the CAF for several years, sponsoring triathlon training clinics across the country.

As a result, Evan lost his right leg above the knee, his left leg below the knee and his sight in one eye. He has been competing in sporting events since 2006.
Scout Bassett – Born in China, Scout lost her right leg due to severe burns and was soon abandoned at an orphanage, where she endured abuse and child labor.
