Walk us through your most colorful childhood memory.
From the time I was very young, my family would go to the Jersey Shore in the summertime. I remember getting to the house, changing into my shorts and running down to the beach all in the span of about 15 seconds. I can remember everything about it: the feel of the house, the temperature of the sand, the smell of the beach …

What is the strangest number you have programmed into your phone?
I can’t remove people’s numbers after they pass away, so I have a few numbers of people who are no longer with us.

Describe your closest brush with death.
A drunk driver runs a red light at Santa Monica and Vine. I hear my passenger scream “BRIII…!” For one moment, I see the car about to slam into me, and there is nothing I can do.

If you could choose any five people, dead or alive, to have dinner with, who would they be and why?
I hate this question. First off, how do you choose five? Second, when I asked my girlfriend who I should choose, she said “All I know is, I better be on that list!” Finally, I get really stressed out about how to work the whole seating thing at a dinner like this. You can’t sit Sinatra next to Brando; I heard they really hated each other. On the other hand, for entertainment value, maybe I should sit them next to each other. It’s a true conundrum. That being said, with no concept of a seating chart and in no particular order, here are five:
1. Brando
2. Mozart
3. Groucho
4. Picasso
5. Shakespeare
5 ¼ Sinatra
5 ½ Steinbeck
5 ¾ Woody Allen
5 7/8 My girlfriend.
(I have about 40 more on the list …)

What do you consider your greatest failure?
I don’t really consider things failures, but I sure have had a lot of learning experiences.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I have a few close relationships, whose truth and honesty I am most proud of.

What is your most cherished possession and why?
A watch my grandfather gave me.

How will you spend this evening?
Going to see The Whispertown 2000 play at the Troubadour and then a nice late-night walk with the pooches.

Describe a vivid or recurring dream you’ve had?
Sharks, always sharks.

How would you define love?
I know it has something to do with truth, forgiveness, acceptance and selflessness. It’s also a tennis score, a Cirque de Soleil show in Vegas, and a daily comic strip about two naked babies.
