World-renowned photographer and fisherman Corey Arnold recently showcased some of his prints at the Fecal Face Dot Gallery in San Francisco. Corey’s camera work has been featured in Italian Rolling Stone, Esquire, The Paris Review, and Artweek. The Portland native spends most of the year traveling on assignment for various magazines, but always manages to make his way back to Alaska for a few months and drudge the deadly seas. His latest gallery, “Fish-Work”, displays select images from Arnold’s new book also titled Fish-Work. Through photos, the book documents Corey’s experiences as a commercial fisherman in Alaska and elsewhere around the world. Corey states that he has “a love-hate relationship with commercial fishing” because the trade is grueling and dangerous, but it often rewards “…amazing stories of triumph, disaster, and pride…” Viewers will agree that capturing these images may have been a grave process, but admiring them is nothing short of inspiring.
