About Lyon:
Lyon was first diagnosed with Gardner’s Syndrome when he was 6 years young and has been fighting this disease for the past 13 years.
Lyon had his first Desmoid tumor when he was 4 years old. The doctors did not have a reason for its occurrence, so they removed it and let it go. For the next several years, Lyon complained of horrible stomach pains. After years of misdiagnosing, his mother Barbie found a gastroenterologist at UCLA who then performed a colonoscopy in December of 1999. What they found was unheard of and very rare for a child of his age. There were thousands of pre-malignant polyps lining his colon and rectum. The doctors then diagnosed him with a rare genetic disease called Gardner Syndrome. The family had no idea how this disease would dramatically impact their lives with countless doctor visits, travels around the world looking for answers, and numerous bed ridden surgeries to remove new found tumors.
Lyon is a Viking, has a heart of Gold, and is always smiling happy! He loves the ocean, he loves to surf and skate, and he truly loves his life. Lyon has shown us strength and inspiration, and more importantly reminded everyone whom he has touched to appreciate every minute of everyday.
